About
Hey, I’m Lena
I’m so grateful that you found your way here. Let me share a little more about myself.
I grew up on my family’s dairy farm in Southeast Qld and am a country girl at heart. I am the youngest of 5 children, and as a family, we also fostered many other children throughout my childhood. Our home had an open door for anyone who needed it, was full to the brim with love, but not without its challenges. What I learnt early on in life was that challenges could be overcome with a little hope, a lot of love, and a healthy, resilient mindset.
After my childhood experiences, it felt like the natural progression for my life was to educate and help others get the best out of life despite the challenges they face, and so I began my career in education.
I now have over twenty years of experience working in educational settings. I have worked as a day care teacher, classroom teacher, and a school guidance counsellor in primary and secondary schools within both rural and urban communities. I have also held the role of Student Wellbeing Advisor, providing support and professional supervision to school guidance counsellors.
As well as my teaching and guidance counselling qualifications, I am a licensed Mental Health First Aid instructor, Master NLP Practitioner, Coach, and Hypnotherapist. I bring a unique set of tools and techniques to my work to help people create lasting change. I am committed to staying up to date with industry and educational best practices to ensure I provide the best support possible to young people, parents, and educators.
Life is both beautiful and challenging, just like a road trip. It is an exciting adventure filled with experiences, people, and places to see, but also has plenty of roadblocks that test us along the way. For kids and teens, one of the biggest roadblocks right now is anxiety and other mental health difficulties. I’ve witnessed too many young people struggle, feeling powerless and lacking the resilience and skills to overcome their difficulties. My growing concern for them inspired me to create The Resilience Revolution.
I am deeply passionate about empowering kids, families, and educators with the knowledge and skills to build environments that support good mental health and resilience. By empowering young people with the tools to overcome challenges, and by helping parents and educators take care of their own wellbeing, so together we can set kids and teens on the road to a thriving future.
Building meaningful connections with others has always been my strength. People often get chatting with me and say they feel like they have known me for years and feel so comfortable to chat with me openly. I’m a practical, compassionate but also a no fluff type of person. I like to get to the heart of the problem and create an actionable plan to solve it. I don’t take myself too seriously and love to have a good laugh.
When I’m not working, I enjoy the best of both country and coastal lifestyles where I live with my husband and two girls in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. I love the simple things in life like writing, reading, listening to music and spending quality time with my nearest and dearest. My favourite quote is from Maya Angelo and it sums me up to a tee.
“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive and do so with some passion, some compassion, some humour, and some style.”
I have had the privilege of supporting thousands of kids, teens, parents and educators navigate their way through anxiety and other life challenges so they can thrive and I can’t wait to help you and yours thrive too.
Best wishes always, Lena x
